OPERATION MISSION LIFE

Operation MissionLIFE is a 4-month onsite experience filled with practical training. During this Lay Member-Bible Worker Certification program, the student will be equipped to be an effective soul-winner for the Kingdom of Christ.

Students will learn how to reach those "wistfully looking to heaven" by doing door-to-door community outreach, health expos, and literature evangelism work. They will also learn how to prepare and deliver Bible Studies on every Bible doctrine, how to prepare and deliver evangelistic sermons, how to recognize conviction and other basic skills of evangelism. The student will gain experience not only in the classroom , but more importantly by participating in active, relevant, outreach ministry.

The program runs from August 23, 2009 through December 13, 2009. The cost for the program is $4,500. It includes meals, housing, transportation, books, handouts and tuition. This does not include other personal needs you might have.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Cycle of Evangelism (20 hours)
This module is designed to introduce you to Evangelism being a cycle rather than
an event. Topics covered during this module include:
i. Necessary elements for maintaining revival in your life.
ii. Having a fruitful and enjoyable prayer life.
iii. Ways to study the Bible so that the Living Book is alive for you.
iv. How to share your personal testimony effectively.
v. How to recognize conviction.
vi. How to foster decisions based on conviction.

Bible Study Boot Camp (60 hours)
While teaching the fundamental Truths of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, this
“sure to be favorite module” models for you in a Bible Study format how to:
i. Center your study on Christ
ii. Mark your study in your Bible
iii. Know the study well enough to share it with confidence
iv. Defend the difficult texts associated with each study

Be sure to bring a Bible that you will feel comfortable marking your studies in.
This marked Bible will become your well honed Sword for giving Bible Studies as
well as your sermon outlines for the BSBC Multi-Media Course. The suggested
versions are KJV or NKJV.

BSBC Multi-Media (16 hours)
To enhance the sharing of the Truths taught in BSBC, this module teaches you
how to use Multi-Media presentations not only in a Bible Study but to preach an
Evangelistic Meeting. At the completion of this module you will have the “nuts
and bolts” necessary to preach Evangelistic Meeting Sermons using your
computer (or one that you borrow).

Literature Evangelism (16 hours)
This module is designed to enhance the opportunities for giving Bible Studies.
Each Sunday we will be gaining Bible Study leads for follow up on the
Wednesday and Thursday outreach times. Taught by successful Literature
Evangelists this course will teach you suggested techniques for spreading the
Gospel via the written word. (The funds that are donated for these books will be
used to offset the costs of Operation MissionLIFE Multi-Media Module.)

Health Evangelism (16 hours)
Learn the role of the health message as aH productive entering wedge for public and personal evangelism, endeavoring to pattern after Christ?s method of reaching souls. Students receive instruction in the principles of healthful living, natural remedies, and how to integrate a proper use of health into the cycle of evangelism through community health expo?s, seminars, and door-to-door ministry.

Salvation in the Sanctuary(16 hours)

Appeals/The Art of Persuasion (12 hours)
This module teaches you how to make sure the Truths that you present in a sermon or a Bible Study go to the heart. Eight hours of lecture and four hours of practical application.

Horizons(16 hours)
In this module the student will learn (1) who codified the Scripture and when was it codified, (2) how was the Scripture codified, (3) the chronological order of Scripture, (4) when were the books written, by whom, and what is the main purpose/thought of each book, (5) which of the Biblical authors were contemporaries, (6) and you will be required to memorize the canonized order of Scripture.

Homiletics (8 hours)
This module teaches you how to preach. The student will learn the different types of sermons, how to write a sermon, how to present a sermon, the do?s and don’ts of preaching. The student will be required to preach a 10 minute sermon.

Spirit of Prophecy (20 hours)
1 Thess 5:20-21 Despise not prophesying. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Today many despise prophesying. We have been given the plans that the enemy of souls is making for the greatest battle that has ever been fought. Only a fool would turn down the battle plans of the enemy in the middle of a war. In this class we will cover (1) Who was Ellen White?, (2) What has God given to us through her writings?, (3) From Early Writings to Last Day Events, (4) Does a true prophet ever err?, (5) Answering the critics of Ellen White.

Daniel (20 hours)
Focusing on the Old Testament?s apocalyptic book, this in-depth study of the book of Daniel takes you from Chapter 1 of Daniel through to Chapter 12.

Revelation (20 hours)
Focusing on the New Testament?s apocalyptic book, this in-depth study of the
book of the Revelation takes you through the seven churches, the seven seals,
the seven trumpets, the seven plagues, the 144,000, etc. while revealing Christ.

Relationships (4 hours)
This class teaches you what you should look for in a spouse, how to relate to the opposite gender, and appropriate steps that should be taken prior to marriage.

Law and Grace (20 hours)
This class helps you defend the Law while uplifting God?s Gracious Gift in Jesus. Focusing on some of Paul?s most difficult to understand books we will study the controversial passages that are most often brought up in Bible studies. This class will focus on the book of Galatians and Romans.

Morals for Mortals (8 hours)
A foundation course in moral decision making in the fields ethics. The objective is
to discover timeless norms by which to make basic ethical decisions across the
professional spectrum. These norms are then applied to issues relevant to the
student.

Judging the Sabbath (8 hours)
A course that delves into the actual meaning of Colossians 2:14-17. Is the Sabbath done away with in these verses? What will you say when you are giving a Bible study on the Sabbath and these verses are brought into view? This class will prepare you for the inevitable questions that arise when you are sharing God?s most precious Time with others.

World Religions (12 hours)
A foundation course in knowing how to witnessing to different religious backgrounds and persuasions. This course focuses on the major religions prominent in the United States and how to build bridges between them and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Church History (16 hours)
A course that winds through the history of the Christian church from the death of the Apostles to the present. When was Truth left behind and what religious groups and their leaders were responsible for studying and teaching the doctrines that we as Seventh-Day Adventists hold. You will study the timeline of history and the formation of Churches up to the present day.

Reaching Missing Members (4 hours)
In the United States it has been estimated there are just as many former/missing members of our congregations as there are attending members. This course focuses on how to bring those we love so dearly back into the Church.

Hermeneutics (16 hours)
This foundation course teaches the student the correct methods for extracting Biblical truths from the Bible. The student will be shown how they can be confident that the Word of God we have today is the same Word of God that was written by the Biblical authors. You will also be given the knowledge tools necessary for correct Biblical interpretation.
